In the recent 2016 Michelin Guides, the hotel group was awarded a total of 16 stars worldwide, across eleven restaurants.
For the Mandarin Oriental, this figure could still increase (or decrease), since the 2016 guide for France is due to be published in Q1 of 2016.
Sur Mesure at the Mandarin Oriental, Paris currently holds two Michelin stars. Should the restaurant be awarded three stars this year, then the hotel group’s overall win will increase to 17.
The Mandarin Oriental group is currently increasing its hold in the MENA region, including reported launches in Beirut, Marrakech and also Dubai by 2017. The global hotel group's Michelin prowess could be the push needed to bring the French guides to the Gulf.

Culinary titans such as British chef Heston Blumenthal, and French chef Pierre Gagnaire, have been responsible for boosting the Mandarin Oriental’s Michelin ranking.
Heston Blumenthal now holds two stars for Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London.
Pierre Gagnaire, who also has two outlets in Dubai, and one in KSA, has earnt two stars for Pierre at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.
In total, the flagship Mandarin Oriental property in Hong Kong holds a total of four stars: two for restaurant Pierre, one for Cantonese restaurant Man Wah, and one star for Mandarin Grill + Bar.
