Tourism revenue in Ajman’s reached US$97.7m (AED359m) in 2015, according to a statement from Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD).

Total guests in Ajman reached 509,658 last year, while total guest nights reached 1,392,406.

“We anticipate continued growth this year after the launch of Ajman’s new destination brand which will help position the emirate as a leisure and investment destination,” stated ATDD general manager Faisal Al Nuaimi.

Average hotel occupancy last year was 60%, while hotel apartments recorded an average occupancy of 68% during the same period.

Guests from the UAE continued to be the biggest contributor last year, with 132,455, followed by Gulf nationals with 93,510, and Asians and Africans with 89,113.

Five new establishments were added to the inventory in 2015, totalling 36 with 3,354 hotel rooms and units and 5,074 beds.
