Dubai-based Peruvian restaurant Coya yesterday distributed over 140 hand prepared meals on Saturday, as part of an initiative to give back to the community during Ramadan.

Every Tuesday until the end of the month (June 14, 21 and 28), Coya’s team members will be preparing, packing and hand delivering 1,173 meals across eight labour camps in Al Quoz, in partnership with a group of volunteers.

“While the following month is a time of patience, generosity, mercy, sharing and a cleansing of the soul, we feel that engaging our community and continuing to support initiatives like this is extremely important not only during the Holy Month of Ramadan but year round," said Coya Dubai director of operations Cedric Toussaint.

He added: "We hope that this will be the start of many future initiatives that the team at Coya Dubai could be involved in and look forward to being able to share future initiatives like this.”
