Inspectors have shut down seven F&B outlets in Qatar so far this month for food violations.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) announced the closures last week, and added that while some were only partially closed, others were ordered to fully shut for several days.
Reasons include selling expired food, selling food unfit for human consumption and unhygienic conditions, reported Doha News.
In comparison, authorities closed three restaurants during the month of July.
Al Sharq newspaper has reported that food inspectors in Qatar are being incentivised to report outlets, as they will receive 5% of total fines collected for MME-related offences.
The reward cannot reportedly exceed US $27,462 (QR100,000) per person.
The authorities list the restaurants that it closes on the Baladiya’s website.
