Dubai-founded concept Under 500, which launched in June with two outlets, has teamed up with franchise specialist Francorp, with the aim of growing the brand globally.

Co-founders Mahmood Bartawi and Fadi Ghaly revealed last month that they plan to open 50-70 of the healthy food casual dining outlets in the MENA region over the next five years, utilising Francorp’s expertise.

Speaking about the concept’s franchising aims, UAE-born Bartawi said: “We’re 100% confident in the business model. It’s simple and meets the needs of consumers, while remaining user-friendly and economical for potential franchise partners.”

All dishes on the menu at Under 500 are under 500 calories. It also offers raw, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, high-protein and low-carb options.

The brand also offers healthy eating meal plans.

Commenting at the time of Under 500’s launch, Ghaly said: “We wanted to offer our customers healthy, guilt-free dishes bursting with loads of flavour, at an affordable price, and that’s what Under 500 is all about.”

The two existing Under 500 outlets, located in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Business Bay, will soon be joined by a third branch, due to open shortly in Dubai Marina.
