What do you think are the main challenges facing housekeeping professionals in 2017?
Challenges which we see are not only specific for 2017, these have been ongoing for several years. As per our observations clients are under continued pressure of delivering enhanced guest experiences whilst working with limited budgets. The second common concern we see is the ability to find and retain qualified and trained staff that positively represent the housekeeping professionals’ brand. This is something that Transguard’s hospitality team is aware of, and therefore developing advanced recruitment and training strategies to provide our clients with committed, high calibre, experienced individuals.
The average room rate is reducing due to an increased hotel supply, so improving efficiency is vital for hotels to remain competitive in the current market. An added number of housekeepers are considering outsourcing solutions as a way to remain competitive.
What most excites you about the UAE hospitality industry in 2017?
The hospitality sector in the UAE has some of the best standards and practices on a global level, with unprecedented options for guests both business and leisure. It creates healthy competition and enhances the service levels which guests experience. With numerous openings planned from key brands in the next 12-14 months, this will only raise the bar.
What are the main topics you expect to come up at the Hotelier Middle East: Executive Housekeeper Forum?
How to provide better and unique customer service while keeping costs low. Also, how to retain trained and qualified staff, as they are in high demand across the UAE. Another topic would be the advancement and implementation of technology, and how this can enhance the customer experience.
What are the latest product launches from your company?
Transguard has invested into its Hospitality Outsourcing division for FY17-18, the dedicated team is driven by providing the industry with diligent staff who embed themselves into a brand’s DNA. We see this as the year where we will amalgamate our services as a ‘one stop shop’ solution encompassing back-of-house and front-of-house hospitality services, security and facilities management.
FY17 has also seen the launch of Transguard Living, the group’s first venture into the B2C market supporting Dubai residents in a manner of various home services.
What other news can we expect from your company in 2017/2018?
Further diversification into more service offerings, as well as developments in training of new and current staff through increased investment in our Centre of Excellence and Training Academy.
