Emirates is set to undergo staff layoffs across departments, from senior cabin crew to the support department workforce including administration and IT, after almost half a decade of rapid growth, reports Bloomberg.

However, Bloomberg reports that Emirates said there is no company-wide programme to reduce headcount and that “there is no change in staff turnover rates in the past weeks.”

In an email exchange with HotelierMiddleEast.com, an Emirates spokesperson said:  “There is no change in staff turnover rates in the past weeks, and no program to reduce headcount. However, we continue to hire for critical roles.”

According to the Emirates website, the company employs over 103,000 staff.

Dubai Media Office tweeted a Gulf News story saying that Emirates continues to hire employees.
