Chef Sean Connolly is set to open his first restaurant in the Middle East, a contemporary brasserie serving steak and seafood, which will take up residency at the top of Dubai Opera.

‘Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera’ is an informal brasserie, with an uncomplicated menu that can be enjoyed in the main restaurant, the bar or at the rooftop terrace with views of the Burj Khalifa.

British born Chef, Sean Connolly, has over 25 years’ experience in the kitchen and has become a household name for both his restaurants and his TV series’, which are broadcast in 35 countries worldwide.

Speaking exclusively to Caterer Middle East, Connolly talked about what drew him to the project: “The most exciting thing for me was that it was a landmark location. Something very special. There was nothing in here. We fit it out with my architect and styled it up to deliver a cool casual brand.”

The menu is also set to reflect the chef’s down-to-earth style: “It’s basically steak and seafood. My menus are easy to read, never too tricky, not too many descriptions. Fish and chips is fish and chips, prawn cocktail is a prawn cocktail. That’s how we roll with my restaurants.”

Elaborating on the concept, Connolly said: “All my food is very simple and produce-driven. A lot of chefs say their food is very simple but my food truly is. It’s all about the customer experience. From the minute you walk in, the music, the lights, the sound, the vibe, the smile of the waiters. The food will shine but it’ll be more about the ambiance and my staff. That’s what really counts.”
