Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and the Emirates Heritage Club have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to preserve and revive national heritage.
The move forms part of a coordinated strategy to bolster Abu Dhabi's positioning as a global cultural tourism destination. The MoU establishes a mutual communication and cooperation between the two entities, focusing on an enhanced joint association in the fields of tourism, culture, and marketing.
The MoU was signed by director general of TCA Abu Dhabi HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, and second deputy chairman of the Board of Directors and executive director of Activities and Sessions HE Sinan Ahmed Al Muhairi.
The agreement aims to promote heritage and cultural activities to attract local and international visitors to Abu Dhabi, as well as identify investment opportunities in the emirate. For prominent cultural elements, the focus is to make UNESCO lists of tangible and intangible heritage.
Commenting on the MoU, Ghobash said: “Our partnership with Emirates Heritage Club seeks to revitalise the emirate’s rich heritage and cultural assets so as to develop tourism and boost investment in this vital sector. It also aims to document unique cultural heritage elements by experts, narrators, and academics from both sides.”
Ghobash also explained that signing the MoU falls within the framework of Abu Dhabi's strategic objectives of establishing a link between the emirate’s past and cultural vision for the future, in order to instill both in the identity of the young generation.
Al Muhairi also noted that both parties will exchange information in the respective fields of tourism, culture and heritage. They will also coordinate cultural events and activities, marketing, and cross-promotion campaigns on all social networking channels and websites.
