The winners of the Hotelier Express Awards 2018 were revealed on February 28, at the Grosvenor House, Dubai.
IHG, Premier Inn, and Millennium Hotels & Resorts each took away double wins at the event.
Millennium Hotels & Resorts took home the following titles: Finance/Procurement Manager of the Year went to Khaled Mourad, the financial controller at Al Jahra Copthorne Hotel & Resort, Kuwait, while Young Hotelier of the Year was awarded to Copthorne Hotel Sharjah purchasing supervisor Jobson Joy Thakkekara.
IHG also was the recipient of two titles, with Vinay Bhatia from Holiday Inn Bur Dubai Embassy District being crowned F&B Manager of the Year, and Holiday Inn Express Dubai Jumeirah being named the Economy Hotel Team of the Year title.
Premier Inn also took home a double whammy with the Housekeeper of the Year (Ahmed Masoud) and the coveted Unsung Hero of the Year (Abdulla Yassar from Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport) categories.
The Sales/Marketing Manager of the Year was revealed to be Angelo De Guzman, the assistant marketing manager from First Central Hotel Suites, while Citymax Hotel Al Barsha’s Shibu John was named Chef of the Year.
In the popular GM of the Year categories, the winning GM from an independent hotel was Olwin De Souza from Ghaya Grand Hotel Dubai, while Time Oak Hotel & Suites’ Guzman Muela picked it up in the chain/branded hotel category.
When it came to team wins, Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah was heralded as the Mid-Market Launch of the Year while AccorHotels’ Aparthotel Adagio premium Dubai Al Barsha was named Serviced Apartment Team of the Year.
Finally, the Mid-Market Hotel Team of the Year was awarded to Park Inn by Radisson Hotel Abu Dhabi Yas Island.
The Hotelier Express Awards was supported by A. Ronai, Duni, Diversey, Guest Supply, MMI, OSN For Business, and Tint.
