The Middle East’s sales and marketing professionals working in the hotel and hospitality industry can expect a giant 59% increase in salary when they make the leap from assistant manager to manager.

The Hotelier Middle East Salary Survey 2009 revealed that the average regional wage for an assistant sales and marketing manager lies at around US $2,438 per month, while managers standardly rake in an average of $3,869.

In fact, this figure appears to be fairly consistent across management levels in all departments with the average F&B manager, for example, taking home $3,450 per month.

However, the biggest salary skip of all occurs at the next level.

Those excelling as sales and marketing managers can expect a pay hike of almost 120% if they become senior managers or directors in sales and marketing, resulting in an average salary of $8,500 per month for this position.

‘This is a really interesting one, sitting quite high in relative terms (sales and marketing directors, for example, have salaries higher than the average Kuwait-based GM!) and goes to show that there is still a huge undersupply of quality sales candidates in the marketplace,” explains Hospitality Graduate Recruitment MD Jeff Ross.

“Hence, the 'good' ones can command very high packages.”
