Paul Bell Paul Bell

In just two years since leaving his role as vice president for business development for InterContinental Hotels Group in EMEA, Paul Bell has laid the foundations intended to make Aldar Hotels and Hospitality one of the top three hotel owners and operators in the Middle East within the next three years, bringing him in at number seven on the Power 50.

Having built one of the strongest teams in the industry, Bell’s ambition is to make Aldar Hotels and Hospitality the partner of choice for the best brands.

This year alone, Aldar has contracted four of the ‘big five’ global hotel brands, says Bell, and by the end of 2009 is expected to add 2500 rooms to Abu Dhabi’s hotel sector; creating more than 3000 jobs and securing the capital’s place on the map.

Inspired by former colleague CEO Millennium Hotels Richard Hartman and industry veterans such as Bill Marriott, Barry Sternlicht, Mr Oberoi and the late Steve Porter, Bell attributes his success to everyone but himself, including an excellent team and his family.

But Hotelier Middle East thinks he couldn’t have done it without his own unfaltering drive and 30 years’ industry experience that began at a small restaurant in Lancashire, England.
