Despite the Crowne Plaza celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, general manager Laurent Rigaud has inspired 640 colleagues to focus on energy conservation and recycling, which has resulted in numerous green awards and nominations.
The first CP Dubai Environmental Awareness Day was organised and the platform was an opportunity for everyone to share their ideas and creativity while demonstrating sustainable, simple and realistic activities.
Under Laurent the hotel has:
• Recycled 675 tonnes of plastics, paper and cans
• Yearly oil consumption has been reduced to 23587 litres from 36288 litres since 2008
• Energy Conservation has resulted in savings of 15%
• Through the installation of water savers in guest rooms has resulted in 30% reduction in water consumption.

Laurent also leads the UAE Purchasing Committee for IHG Hotels to ensure that all hotels in the area have aligned environment friendly purchasing practices.
All new employees have been taught to develop green habits from day one and, as the hotel tests new products, it is Laurent’s passion that ensures everyone remains on track.
