HME.com: Can you give some examples of the state of the art technologies referred to make the hotels cost efficient?

Since we are currently talking to various partners, it is premature to confirm what this area will include. We are looking at into opportunities in self check-in and self check-out, sophisticated vending machines to offer clients items that won’t be part of the standard offerings.

We are also talking to international consultants on energy savings to partner with us at this initial stages of the concept. These of course are in addition to several other areas that we are studying.

HME.com: What will set Day & Night apart from competitors such as Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn?

These two companies tend to offer the basics in a basic format too. At Day & Night, the rooms will be far larger and the customers will have the true feeling of staying in a very fine environment. To use a term that I have said many times in the past, we are aiming at offering the Rolls Royce of the budget brands flirting very closely with the four-star brands.

HME.com: What makes Abu Dhabi the right location to launch the brand?

Abu Dhabi has embarked into a major programme as part of its 2020 vision where Tourism will play a major role. To date, the achievements have been considerable and the plans ahead are certainly very exciting.

Offering a first class budget hotel in such a promising environment would ultimately serve the business community and leisure traveller alike in a destination where the majority of the upcoming projects are geared towards the high end market.

HME.com: How will you ensure demand for five hotels of this brand in the one emirate?

Abu Dhabi is very large. It constitutes about 86% of the size of the UAE. Several projects have been announced away from the city centre of Abu Dhabi. Therefore the opportunities are concrete. Our partners at CAPM Investment are looking at various opportunities not only in the fascinating city centre of Abu Dhabi but in other areas too.

HME.com: You mention low cost airlines - is the lack of low cost airlines flying direct to Abu Dhabi a concern?

We would welcome additional low cost airlines flying to Abu Dhabi. The fact that Jazeera Airways and Air Asia have started in 2009 is very encouraging. We are confident that more will come soon.
