Sharjah Mega Mall was evacuated yesterday afternoon after the electronic sign at the entrance to the shopping centre burst into flames, according to a report by Arabian Business.
Police and civil defence personnel cordoned off the mall and all roads leading to the retail centre have been closed.
One eyewitness told an Arabian Business reporter at the scene that there was "big damage" to the entrance to the mall, adding it was "all burnt out".

A civil defence official told Arabian Business he could not comment until a full investigation was completed.
According to reports, the electronic sign at the front of the shopping mall went up in flames and the mall has been closed for the rest of the day.
Sharjah Mega Mall, located at Abu Shagara, opened on December 10, 2001 and is one of the largest malls in the UAE at 800,000 sq ft.
The mall attracts about 25,000 visitors per day on weekdays, increasing to 30,000 visitors on weekends.
