UAE-based travel company Sharaf Travel is hosting a ‘travel souk’ for the first time in Dubai as a way of stimulating bookings for the summer holiday season.
V. Jayaram, managing director, Sharaf Travel described the event as "something different" which would give the opportunity for the public to interact with travel suppliers such as hotel groups, airlines and cruise companies directly. The event will feature special offers as well as a prize draw.
“Our customers and those interested in travel can take advantage of this opportunity by negotiating directly with travel experts and suppliers to obtain on-the-spot discounts or strike bargain deals,” said Jayaram.

He said he expected about four or five hundred people to attend.
“We wanted to do something different and we have been brainstorming amongst ourselves about what it could be,” explained Jayaram.
“We are not looking at getting in big business in terms of volumes and numbers, it’s a forum for customers to interact with our partners which is not normally done – there are very few travel agencies who share information of their clients along with their partners. But we are very transparent in what we do.
“I think it will draw crowds, people will not book a holiday the same day but when they come to book a holiday they book with Sharaf.”
Jayaram added that the summer season was looking healthy this year compared to last year.
“It is definitely better than last year. People that haven’t gone away last year for the reasons that we all know will spend more time this year and more money. Dubai especially went through a go-slow, holidays were not there but I think this year will start looking a bit better.”
The Sharaf Travel Souk takes place on Saturday 12th June 2010 3-8pm at Al Ameera Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Dubai.
