Saudi Arabia Airlines has been told it must intervene to ensure the return of more than 4,000 Saudis who are stranded in Egypt because of a lack of airline seats.

A spokesman from the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry said it was vital for the carrier to act to get people back to work.

“Saudia has to intervene urgently to resolve this problem by increasing flights between Saudi Arabia and Egypt,” Nasser Al-Tayar, chairman of the committee of travel and tourist agencies at the chamber of commerce, told local Arabic daily Al-Madinah.

According to Al-Tayer, the Egyptian national carrier has increased the number of its flights to the kingdom, and he appealed for Saudia to do the same.
