French celebrity chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli, helped launch Lafayette Gourmet – a high-end store packed with delicacies from across the world as well as local produce.
Novelli gave a live cooking demonstration at the opening event in the department store. The celebrated chef said that Lafayette Gourmet had filled an important gap in the Middle East market.
“There were times when I was here that I was thinking to myself that something was missing. The reason why I came to Lafayette was because of its consistency of service back in Paris.”

Andrew Joyce, culinary director of food and beverage at Galeries Lafayette, said that the launch of the concept marked the end of a “colossal effort”.
“Lafayette Gourmet and its chefs from all around the globe will from now on prepare healthy, vibrant and colourful food, haute cuisine at its finest every day of the week.”
The store has pledged to deliver any type of ethnic, international or local food to the doorsteps of customers.
Pascal Abchee, general manager of Galeries Lafayette, said that the store aimed to impress the “world-class, savvy consumer of Dubai”.
“Our French spirit of fashion can now manifest itself through Lafayette Gourmet’s food philosophy,” he added.
