Five-star hotels must keep rates high

Dear Ziad, I read your interview with great interest, but unfortunately I am here unable to understand the concept you tried hard to clear "5* Hotels must keep rates high". Since we understand as recession is hitting badly & market is not stable then how you can ask 5* operators to keep rates high while you are considering only your 3/4* properties as should give good business. Being int he industry over 20 year I titally disagree with you and suggest to study the market thoroughly. I am sure as 5* operator you would not like to keep hotel empty with high rates. Budget hotels should re-define their market & strategies. Never mind.

Dear Ziad, I appreciate your comments and if I understood you correctly you meant 5 star hotels should set the benchmark for the rest of the hotels so everyone gets their fair share and makes money while no compromise in services, pls correct me if we are on the same page.

Dear Ziad Nice interview, pricing is a sensitive issue while I respect everyone?s opinion, I think one sentence says everything in your interview "Everybody should be priced correctly".

Dear Ziad, I completely agree with the statement "Everybody should be priced correctly" very strong and direct words. if 5 stars choose to lower the rates just because they want to get more share, then it defeats the purpose of having star ratings, since they do not live up to the standards anymore. that is why hotels are rated 2, 3, 4 or even 7* in dubai, because there is a certain standard to it. the moment 4 * are priced almost equally as 2* then, why should we have star ratings then, if hotel standards are not being followed.
