Firstly, anybody who has worked in a kitchen would not refer to a chef as lazy. Hi tech equipment is not new to the kitchen but like much of this sort of thing it is often underused. For example, people using word processing software use less than 50% of its features. It is likely that the more complex the equipment the less features that are used. So, chefs do retain some autonomy in their cooking. I would be interested to know if experienced chefs are included in the teams that develop such equipment as mentioned in the article. Some thought that the microwave oven, introduced around the early 70's (or before) would revolutionize cookery - chef proof cooking? I don't think that happened then and unlikely to in the future.
