I guess it makes sense in a peculiar sort of way. Knock down one of the most memorable hotels that Oman ever had. Oman seems to be intent on knocking down all that was good and enjoyable in that most delightful of countries, The loss of the Intercon will be a loss to any and all who lived, worked, stayed and played there over the years. A beautiful hotel and run by some of the best General Managers the Gulf has ever had, many who are still around the Gulf still. More who have moved onwards and upwards in the same industry.Such a shame, but that's progress i suppose. The same progress that has left Dubai bereft of any edifices that can be described as anything but ultra modern.

Very sad. It is my favourite hotel in all the world -- both for locatition and atmosphere.
