It is not all about rankings, please always check who did and sponsored the ranking and you will get some surprises! Take a closer look at all those hotel schools and see what is important to you and where you feel most comfortable!

I fully agreed with you. I believe they know ranking reports work very well for students and parents so they did it. However, it may not necessarily reflect the facts... List down the points you care when you choose a school, such as % of successful job placement been offerred by the school, education quality, recognitions etc, then try to minimize your choices. Remember too many choices means no choice. Good luck!

The most important aspect of the hospitality industry, apart from the obvious education, is the connections: who do you know and who can help you. The market competitiveness of your diploma DOES matter. So the rankings are actually quite important. If you have the chance to study in one of these schools, it is unrealistic to disregard the surveys even if they are sponsored my Laureate itself because they do reflect the market. And don't forget: these schools have been around for a long time, meaning that a lot of people in key positions in places where you might want to work are probably from one of these schools (that's what I mean by "connections"). It certainly does give you an advantage to be part of a community that already has "people on the inside" to help you adjust. And don't be fooled: they might help you get a specific job/internship or interview but they won't do your work for you. But I agree, if you're going to study something this intensively and that involves you leaving your home than pick a place that resembles the most to your idea of a "home". EHL, GIHE and Les Roches are quite different schools... so they will cover most of the people in terms of demands. I can't speak for Cornell.

Concerning the ranking, GIHE and Les Roches have been ranked as the Top 3 Hotel Management Schools in the world with their specialization, output and influence, the quality of teaching and research training, the quality of teaching the methodology spectrum, discipline of the program and much more. You should meet some of the Alumni and then you will understand. GIHE and Les Roches still have their teaching in the traditional way.
