Kanoo Travel GM warns of closure and consolidation

TMC's should work in union to develop the market. Currently suppliers and Customers seem to dominate the way we conduct our business. For example airlines keep increasing their airfares without prior notification. Do we blindly accept this? Customers get the better between the price wars between TMC's. At the end of the day clients pay peanuts for the high level of services they enjoy. Due to high overheads, TMC's are limited with the remuneration to staff. The quantum and quality of work the staff put in is not aligned to the salaries they may get doing a similar task in other industries.

I agree with with Roland, lots of Travel agents and TMC's will dissapear soon, the best way to keep up is to adopt to technology and new era of travel soloutions to serve the customers, in this region Face to face sale is important, however due to the new useful friendly websites such as expedia, booking.com and many easy use websites as well as the consumers knowledge and educations, i see that face to face process might dissapear too, no booking fees, easy pricing strategies by suppliers cheaper flights and accommodations is all available at consumers finger's click 24 hours a day, also not to forget that airlines and hotels recently developed online systmes with accepting free cancelation and more flexible terms to encourage direct online sales. we will still see travel companies who are specialized in groups, holiday packages and manual required solutions exist due to the technical components of these services which cant be booked online.

Educating customers on travel related services globally should help travel agents to improve turnaround time and bottomline. Product development has not reached full potential in any markets. The need of world class travel booking engine with hitech and human touch features can open new experience for travel buyers. No one on earth till date has a travel platform that has got the beauty of a travel machine. There are travel scientists and customer care specialists developing this unique new platform for the better of travel industry. This platform shall save the travel agents, ecommerce travel companies, customers and suppliers.

In recent times, I have observed so many brick and mortar travel agencies folding up in Dubai. As a hotelier, I realise the days of mark-up on mark-up are over with OTAs ruling the roost. TAs should keep mark-ups LOW. It is a new world order and TAs have to adapt or perish !
