Emirates Palace sued for $5.4mn by injured guest

She doesn't claim to be knocked out, she was knocked out, and as for her wedding day, after numerous visits to ICU and suffering from Deep Vein Thrombosis and a pulmonary embolism and having to cancel her wedding on several occasions, it was a miracle that she walked down the aisle at all. I have seen how the last three years have treated this family and it has been devastating. Her parents have flown out many times worried that it would be the last time they saw her.

Typical lazy journalism at its finest here. You want to print a story on your website about a court case involving a middle east hotel and a guest, go and investigate the facts yourselves instead of leaching a completely biased article from an online publication owned by the same organisation that owns the Emirates Palace. All you have succeeded in doing is further perpetuating the hotel?s public stance that this case is fictitious or the injuries suffered by the claimant are blown out of proportion. Both aspects couldn?t be further from the truth; but then you wouldn?t be interested in printing an impartial story, because that might involve some of your ?journalists? having to do something other than ?copy? and ?paste?.

I agree Ariel. I too have watched her and her lovely family suffer and watch machines breathe for her whilst she is put in comas and see her covered in bruises from seizures and suffer from broken bones. I have also visited her in ICU. It's incredibly sad and has torn the family to pieces :-( I myself attended the court hearing with her today and we can only hope her and her lovely husband get the justice we all know they deserve.

I am very upset that the real facts have not got out into the public domain and that instead, I feel victimised even further by articles with inaccurate information. My husband and I have only ever wanted a fair trial but when papers such as The National write inaccurate, biased stories with incorrect medical information, that may never become a reality. They couldn't even get how the accident happened correct, claiming I was hit on the head whilst entering the guest room - which is not only false but is also a ridiculous concept. It shouldn't be this hard to get the justice my family and I really deserve when there is so much evidence. This whole experience is emotionally draining and incredibly upsetting.

Well, I can tell you that I have witnessed first hand the life and death struggles that NC has had to overcome in the three years since the accident at the Emirates Palace. I have watched her while she has been on life support, not knowing if she would live or die. I have comforted her when she has lost her hair due to the strong medication and when she has lost a job she loved, due to her ill health - and much more; far too much suffering to go into here. I can also tell you that I have seen the beautiful, vibrant, intelligent and successful young woman she was before the accident, turn into a person who is afraid to go out alone, is not permitted to drive, cannot bath alone and cannot do many of the everyday things we all take for granted. The National should be ashamed of themselves for this destructive and sloppy journalism. I think they should, at the very least, try to make amends by apologising to NC. This may go a small way to redressing the balance - it will not however, take away the hurt or the emotional damage it has caused NC and those of us (and there are many) who love her. All NC and her family wants is justice for her suffering and an admission from the Emirates Palace that they did not ensure the safety of their patrons. This is a 7 star hotel with a 7 star reputation to uphold- one of the only two such hotels in the world - do the right thing by this young woman, admit your guilt, apologise and compensate her and protect future guests by ensuring this negligence never ever happens again.
