Eco-tourism 'myth' slammed by experts

We certainly don't believe Sustainable 'Eco Tourism' is a small elite market. Perhaps the the big players should look at what is happening around them. We own and operate a small Sustainable Eco and Agri- Tourism business called 'Brooloo Park' Eco Retreat and Equine Resort' in the Sunshine coast Hinterland, west of Noosa in the Mary Valley, Queensland , Australia We also operate from here a Training Facility, V.E.T Centre Qld (Vocational & Equine Training) which specialises in training people, Employers and employee's for this industry. We facilitate training programs for people who are looking to get involved in the industry but focus mainly on Farmers and people with land that wish to diversify into Tourism. They may wish to put a toe in first with developing camping sites through to showing these farmers/ graziers how to utilise the old milking and or shearing shed, old staff quarters up to the 2nd or 3rd house now not being used. Eco Tourism is no 'Myth' when managed and run by small to medium business. Remember, we employ 80% of the work force, not the big boys. They sometimes are able to pay higher salaries but do they give their employees a better lifestyle?

I think what is actually being said here by all panelists is that tourism can only ever become sustainable if ALL play their part. That means not slamming each other but working together - what you are doing is fantastic but what Thomas Cook are doing is equally commendable as it's an acceptance of a need to change and will pass a message to tens of millions of people - that is an important step. I think what was actually said what that global change requires global action.
