Homegrown Italian restaurant opens in Abu Dhabi

On their website it says "Visit us at APi CAE GOURMET and we will change the way you experience food." Well this certainly holds true, as this was the worst dining experience I ever had in Abu Dhabi! Ok, they source quality ingredients and try to prepare them in traditional or sometimes innovative ways - but whatever you do to a piece of salmon is destroyed by preparing it long before it is even beeing ordered and then warm it up in a microwave! All the food looked great, but the vegetables were absolutely tasteless, and the tiny portions didn't help. Also the first italian "restaurant" where you can't order a pizza as a main course (just overpriced pizza slices are on offer - also microwaved, by the looks of it...) Better try Camacho across the road, or the little new restaurant in the Spar supermarket around the corner!

Dear Tom, We do apologize if you had a bad experience at APi CAE, however I would like to clarify a few things. Firstly our food cannot be compared to Camachos as to the fact that not only do we use fresh ingredients and no flavorings and oils (which is why maybe you don't taste the fats and oils in the vegetables), but we have actual Italians preparing the Italian food on offer. We do not have ANY microwaves in the restaurant and all pizzas are prepared fresh here in house with the option of ordering a whole pizza if desired. As for the "little restaurant in Spar" that only opened yesterday (Sat 18 May 2012) so i am very curious how you can compare us to us to it last week (when this was written). It seems that maybe you are just throwing bad words. In the case that this complaint is genuine I do apologize and hope that you will visit us again and contact me so that i can address any and all complaints in person. We are always happy to take on criticism and appreciate honest complaints so that we can provide honest corrections if need be. We hope to see you again. Gergana
