The long term planning and collaboration should consist of educating the nationals in positive ways through attainable college programs so that the nationals will be able to become department heads,GMs and VPs. The nationals do not want to be the cooks, buttlers, maids or car-hops. Usurp the higher positions away from the expatiates not the lower ones!

Appointing more Emiratis in Dubai Hotels is a great step towards spoiling the industry very similar to appointing Saudis in KSA Hotels, good luck to Dubai Hotels..................................

@JB Rare How can one educate-only to become GM/VP etc. If you don't know whats running in the kitchen how would you run F&B, if you don't know department's basic structure or foundation how will you develop hotels as a VP. Your idea seems something like a fiction or a dream which will only create night mares. So, let's replace the higher positions to Nationals, and hopefully close the hotels in few weeks, I am sure. Very funny idea, indeed.

The worst thing the hotel industry could do is give locals jobs that they are not qualified to do. Or give anyone jobs they are not qualified to do, for that matter. The hotel industry in this country relies on having top-class service to match the top-end prices that are being charged. If people have jobs because of their nationality rather than their ability then the quality of service will fall and the industry and country will suffer. The best person should get the job, regardless of nationality. We'll all suffer otherwise.

Why don't you use your head Essam. Part of the Educational process, is a basic knowledge of all the duties and in say a 5 star Hotel. A General Manager may not have to operate a Washing Machine in the Laundry Department, but he would know what Clean and Folded Sheets are supposed be, a knowledgeable GM might have not cooked a tasty 'Rack of Lamb', but would know how the Lamb should be presented and taste like. Do you catch my thinking Essam?
