Emirates Palace to pay $54K to 2008 guest in coma

$54k to 'pay for a lifetime of medical treatment'? Sure, if she was a child requiring a lifetime's supply of Calpol to handle nausea, then fair enough, but for all the neurological treatment, removal of quality of life and incredible spending outlay from her parents to date, $54k is a paltry, pathetic amount of money. I'd conject that's far less than one weekend's takings at the Kempinski MoE (which I'll never step inside again). ADINC, Kempinksi. You disgust me and surely everyone who stands for decency.

I think that the parties concerned are behaving in a despicable manner, we know they are a large concern and that they can hide behind legalities, but there is a moral issue here, they should be accountable for all guests well being while they are staying at their hotels, they must have liability insurance to cover accidents, and as such, this should cover every eventuality, to hide behind a court ruling, which, by the way, I understand amounts to Blood Money and could have been awarded at the very start of the problems, is a total disgrace. they are accountable for the negligence that lead up to this tragic accident, and as such should settle with the family to cover all future medical bills as well as past ones, plus an amount to ensure that Natalie can live as normal a life as possible for the rest of her life. This could have happened to anyone, and for any hotel to turn their back on their guests is utterly disgusting. If they do not step up and agree to this, I sincerely hope that, before any future guests or visitors to any of their hotels, are made aware of how little regard this company has for their safety and boycotts all their hotels, then see how they like it when it actually affects them. Utterly disgraceful behaviour.

This is why you don't stay in the Kempinski anywhere or visit the UAE. Lax laws that allow anyone (as long as they are local) to get away with murder.

Absolutely disgusting - so many lives ruined by this incident, and the financial award isn't nearly enough to cover expenses let alone offer any kind of compensation.
