I visit the ME on business one heck of a lot and the hotels are great, a real high standard. But it's true that the big chains all look and feel the same. I love the small boutique hotels in Europe for example, but they just don't exist in the ME. Shame - I'd definitely stay at one.

I've stayed in 'mid-market' chain hotels in the UK and they're mot much cop -- ceiling panels have holes in, requested baby bed doesn't turn up and breakfast isn't included. Cleanliness, quietness and value are all customers want from a branded mid-market hotel.

Most people don't travel all around the world just to look at the same old thing, that's boring and not what travel is/should be about, the hotels should reflect the essence of the country they are in but its the quality of the brands service that is important to remain the same.

Do not dispair guys... as I have heard a company in Umm Al Quwain (another state in the UAE) is now seriously considering of reinventing their hotel and making it boutique hotel that is surely value for money which you will not find at present in the main cities such as Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Small well maintained country style atmosphere same like in villages in Asia and Europe. Tell me... is that a very good idea and news or what? Definitely not the same like all branded boring style. Watch Out Soon! If so are we expecting you visiting the place soon?

If an area has only mountains of rock and water.Branded hotels may have a shot there-it would have to be the only one in the world. If there were a race track there-there should not be another one there for miles.
