Dubailand on track for 2015

Do journalists ever actually visit these sites which they write articles about? Gulf news last week also carried articles regarding Dubailand (after ATM). Some of the statements made by CEO's and other senior figures are extremely vague and very misleading. Saying that projects are "on track" - what does that mean? I can assure you, a brief drive through some of these sites in Dubailand will give you a clear reality check regarding the likelihood of completing projects by end of 2010 or 2011, when we are almost halfway through 2009 and have not even turned soil. Many of these projects are only on a drawing board. In the current market can we realistically continue to report that a mega-project will go from paper to operating, in 18-24months? Some of which are a minimum of AED4 to 5billion? I would like to quietly suggest a few journalists visit the sites of these theme parks themselves and have some independent construction consultants comment on the practicality of the timelines announced by the developers. Lets hope they are right, for all of our sake!

Sounds pretty fishy to me. I know a lot of people working on projects stated in this news release, and many/most of them have been laid off because their projects got parked or had funding lapses. "On track for 2015". I won't be surprised to see that date comtinue to push back.
