i believe Gerald Lawless should have been number 1 - he brought Hotels in the Middle East to the attention of the world with his unique hotels not going with the norm in the structure or set up - each jumeirah property has been unique and challenged the group hotels with their standardised way of running hotels

No doubt what Gearld did for Jumeirah puts him on par with industry greats Marriot and Hilton.

How can you compare and say it brings him to the great Marriott and Hilton both chains which are so standardised it is scary with no unique features you could be in any hotel in the world also the Hilton and Marriott standards in the Middle East do not compare with 5 star standards these chains here are below par in cleanliness and management
