With our social networking for the InterContinental Hotels Group properties in Dubai Festival City, we try to establish a rapport with guests who are genuinely interested in hearing what options they have. The beauty of social networks is that people opt in to them, they are not broadcast to. Facebook fans and Twitter followers choose to receive messages from us as most find them informative or even entertaining. We also use the networks as platforms in our endeavors to improve customer service. Much like our in-house comment cards are paid close attention to by senior management, so is the feedback received from online forums.
