It is a shame as i have personally used La Maison D'Hote for my clients. They loved the experience! DTCM has proven yet again to have ever changing rules which makes lives of these kind of businesses and DMCs very difficult. It would have been fine if those rules were fair and across the board but...

Its simple....follow the rules. Dont try and make money out bending the rules and finding loopholes, thereafter say that the rules are ever changing. Personally this guesthouse was operating without juristrcition and If found so, they pay the price. Well done.

Well, I just hope the two owners would consider opening in other Emirates who are more linient in their classifications etc. If they believe they have a good business, providing an excellent service... not having it in Dubai should not stop them. Either way find area in Dubai which is acceptable for the business they wish to operate.

A boutique hotel (superb setting, excellent service) and a unique product for Dubai. DTCM should be considering modifications to their rules to accommodate such hotels which enhance Dubai's hospitality offer and reputation.

zoning laws are a guide, not a straight jacket: when were the applicable zoning laws effective and when did the owners apply for their license? who came first wins always it would seem that the guesthouse was operational therefore did the law change, did neighbors complain, or do we have retroactive application of zoning law if the later, lets go to court, this one can be won easily

If this guest house was owned by an Emirati - then I don't think it would shut down!!... Its a shame really!!!
