TripAdvisor facing action from angry hoteliers

Generally, I look at the comments on tripadvisor that are about a month to 3 months old. I don't care what happened in the past. But if hotels cannot accept critiques from its guests and improve their service, then they might as well quit the job. If they think a guest accused them wrongly, then managers could reply to it and give their stance. Please remind me to never stay at the hotels that are suing tripadvisor. Tripadvisor is a blessing to travelers.

Hotels are pleased to accept comments from clients. But on several occasions guests who are unable to have their way blackmail Hotels with nasty comments. Google too takes great pleasure in posting false comments by ghost guests. They do not have the means to check whether a particular person is a genuine guest or a ghost guest. Competitors too use ghost guests to defame other Hotels. Well, in case of google there is no way to give the stand of the Hotel owners. They do not care to respond. Even a legal notice is of no use. It is true that Tripadvisor is a great blessing to travellers. But they should have a mechanism to verify whether a particular guest has really stayed at the Hotel such guest is writing against, before posting the adverse comments.

Before i book with any hotel, I always look at Tripadvisor to see customers comments. The comments made are almost always accurate. I don't base my decision just by reading one or two bad reviews on staff behavior etc... I look to see whether the majority of reviews are good & ignore the minority bad reviews. Then I go ahead with the booking. Each individual look for a particular interest in the hotel. For example if some guests read that rooms were very small, they are put off booking in that particular hotel. But if i was to read rooms are small, this has little significance to me as I spend almost all day out of the room anyway. So everyone looks for his or her interest at the end of the day. But TripAdvisor or any other review is highly important in deciding where one wants to stay.
