Will never work in this region, mainly for reasons outlined in the article. Not that Emiratis aren't more than capable of the roles, just that it IS culturally insensitive & not enough money to compensate for the unsociable hours & available benefits easily achievable in public. Sector

I would like to add my comments based on 25 years of experience in the Hospitality industry where 80 % of which in the GCC countries. The concept is wonderful and i believe every country should be self reliant and contained by its people. The GCC countries are except Oman And Bahrain, trying to solve the localization backwards. It is 100% true that the Hospitality Industry is culture sensitive, not only to do with the late hours and compensations, it start from the bringing up in the nuclear family, where the child is brought up with house mades and cooks are doing the house hold work.Where the child is used to have every thing handed to him or her without effort. Then how do one expect the same to serve others in the public environment. So this type of social education will only produce people expect service and incapable to give service, meanwhile colleges and schools will not solve this issue. The other dimension of this concept, is to do with motivations, Normally motivations is directed by the wants and needs, and it ranges from the need for food and shelter to the top of the pyramid of self actualization. The problem here needs to be addressed , a person born with service handed over to him or her by a third non parent body, has a pocket money more than an employee, study free, and his youth years emphases on cars and outings, suddenly the same person is to be consider to serve others?! what would his performance. Therefore, we end up with locals holding posts and non locals under that pot doing the work, indeed this is a false picture.and all what we will see an exaggerated manpower cost, then the private business eventually will fail to deliver the desired profit.
