Hi, I do not want to say, but unfortunately among these companies I have seen where we can find discrimination. "Happy Employees Bring Happy Customer's" is true but where is the talent, I had a long discussion with someone at top position in Hotel Industry, he said we are looking only for European candidate. Well I understand that some positions like in Culinary can be assigned to EU professionals as it may require particular F&B knowledge etc but what for the rest positions. Talent is never based on colour or race, it is a unique quality which anyone can have regardless of his country. I encountered with a well educated & experienced guy from Malaysia and I was disappointed to see that he was not being hired by any good company because he was not EU. Well I hired him because he has the true talent. When we see job posts saying "European GM/RM, FOM/RDM, EHK/EAM" required, don't you feel that we are disregarding other professionals. Being an international hotelier how we can do like this. Why we are looking for a candidate who spent 5 years in EU with mixed background, rather for a candidate who spent 10 years in different countries having purely industry background. To be a VP or Director is not enough for us, but actually it's all about values we deliver. I am not criticising on anyone but it's unfortunate that no one look into this matter. Why 75% of jobs are filled through people with somehow references, why recruitment companies are working just like a 3rd part/source and not doing any counselling or coaching for candidates, and simply replying that our client require this or that nationality, we are sorry. My concern to post these comments here is to bring again into attention for our senior leaders who can make a difference but not by discriminating. I am also a GM of a well know company (do not wish to mention name, sorry) but never inherited this sort of values. Thank you to all and let's be together in finding the talent but not the colour.
