The chief executive of Malaysia's AirAsia is considering a possible takeover bid for Virgin Atlantic, according to a report in the Sunday Times.
Tony Fernandes has renewed his interest in the UK airline and is contemplating a deal that could be worth up to 1 billion pounds (US $1.54 billion).
Billionaire Sir Richard Branson owns a 51% stake in the airline he founded in 1984, while Singapore Airlines paid 600 million pounds for a 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic in 2000.
