Dubai Duty Free has signed a management agreement with Jumeirah Group to operate a five-star luxury hotel at The Aviation Club in Dubai.
It will have 293 guestrooms, two restaurants, two bars and two lounges, as well as a spa and health club, and conference and banqueting facilities.
Commenting on the appointment, Colm McLoughlin, managing director of Dubai Duty Free said the company was “delighted to sign the management agreement with Jumeirah Group”.

“[Jumeirah] have a great deal of experience in operating some of the most iconic hotels in Dubai and have expanded considerably in recent years,” he asserted.
“We are confident that the new hotel will be a valued addition to the business and leisure facilities in Dubai and compliment the successful Aviation Club."
Gerald Lawless, executive chairman of Jumeirah Group, said: “We are honoured to have been invited by Dubai Duty Free to operate this exceptional luxury business hotel. It gives Jumeirah additional presence in the heart of Dubai and we look forward to delivering our promise of Stay Different at the property when it opens.”
The hotel sits within the grounds of The Aviation Club, home to the Dubai Tennis Championships and the award-winning Irish Village.
The hotel is currently under development and is expected to open during 2011. Jumeirah Group expects to open at least six other hotels in 2011, including Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai, Jumeirah Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi and Jumeirah Vitavelli in the Maldives, Jumeirah Frankfurt as well as potential openings in Azerbaijan and Kuwait.
