Seven food and beverage industry experts have been appointed to the esteemed judging panel for the Caterer Middle East Awards 2011.
Having selected the respected 2010 Caterer Awards’ winners, these fanatical foodies are returning to cast their expert eye over the nominations for the 2011 Awards.
Bringing culinary expertise to the panel are chef, TV personality and author Suzanne Husseini, who presents the popular cooking show Sohbe Taibe on the Arabic Food Network, and chef and lecturer Michael Kitts, director of culinary arts at the renowned Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management.

Chartered designer Nigel Witham, whose firm provides complete package branding, interior and exterior design for start-up F&B outlets, adds the designer’s perspective to proceedings, while MMI bar training and development manager Rebecca Sturt is on hand to analyse the entries for categories such as Bar of the Year, Sommelier of the Year and Bartender of the Year.
They are joined by customer service and restaurant management expert Halima Anderson, a former restaurant owner and manager, who is currently director of operations at customer service consultancy firm Ethos Consultancy in Dubai.
Flying into Dubai from Muscat to judge the shortlisted nominations will be Robert MacLean, a hotel management graduate and chef, now principal of the National Hospitality Institute in Oman — a position he has held for the past 13 years.
The panel of six will be joined by ITP Business group editor hospitality Louise Oakley.
Nominations for the Caterer Middle East Awards close on Friday 1 July.
Shortlisting and judging will take place in July and the Awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 7 September at Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai.
