Abu Dhabi's first Premier Inn hotel expected to open in October Abu Dhabi's first Premier Inn hotel expected to open in October

Premier Inn’s first Abu Dhabi hotel is on track to open in October at the US $2.3 billion micro-city Capital Centre.

Building works on the 242-key hotel commenced in April 2010 with an estimated opening date of September 2011.

“The building is 99% ready, but it looks as though the opening will slip into October,” Premier Inn Hotels’ managing director Darroch Crawford told Hotelier Middle East.

‘We expect all essential infrastructure and utility services to the site to be available by mid-September; this is a little later than we had hoped, but not majorly so.”

Crawford said bookings were already being taken on the hotel’s website for reservations but from November 4 onwards "in case of any further unexpected slippage on the opening date".

The AED 120 million (US $33 million) hotel will be the fourth property in the UAE for the UK-based budget brand, part of the Whitbread Group. It already has hotels at Dubai Investments Park, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Dubai International Airport. The Abu Dhabi hotel will be situated opposite the leaning Capital Gate tower and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre at Capital Centre, masterplanned by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC).

All rooms at the hotel will offer en-suite bathrooms and will be capable of accommodating families of up to four people. A contemporary restaurant – Bedouinns, a bar – The Retreat, and a Costa Coffee outlet will all be featured onsite, as well as a podium sundeck with a swimming pool and whirlpool spa.

“Demand from travellers to the UAE seeking high-quality budget hotel accommodation has been growing over the last few years and we believe we offer the best value proposition in the market without compromising on service,” Crawford said in a statement upon the launch of the hotel.
