General managers from the emirates' hotels will gather at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai on September 14 for Hotelier Middle East’s largest Great GM Debate to date.
The forum enables hotel executives to network, talk and get any niggling issues of their chests. Topics to be tackled this year include utilising social media, running successful restaurants and owner-operator relationships.
The GM debate will open with a keynote address by by His Excellency Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), and Majid Al Marri, director, hotel classification department, Dubai Department of Tourism Commerce and Marketing.

Other highlights include the unveiling of exclusive research into the Middle East hotel pipeline conducted by Guy Wilkinson, partner and general manager at Viability, and a panel session entitled "Where are we headed?”. Industry leaders lined up for the session include Millennium & Copthorne Middle East partner and president Ali Hamad Lakhraim Alzaabi, Jumeirah Group SVP operations MEA and south Asia Marwin Al Ali, and Ishraq Holding CEO Sami Al Ansari.
A host of other industry experts are also on board to speak and host interactive workshops, including Amit Arora, chief marketing officer, Emaar Hospitality; Markus Thesleff, co-founder, OKKU; Craig Cochrane, vice president human resources — Middle East & Asia, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts; Mark Patten, vice president culinary, Atlantis The Palm; and Hannes Bos, director of revenue strategy and support greater China, InterContinental Hotels Group.
The event, which, is the only conference of its kind targeted specifically at hotel general managers in the UAE, promises to tackle the most pressing of industry issues, from the competition hotels face in the F&B industry to implementing effective revenue management strategies.
