Nominations for the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2011 will close today - Sunday September 4 - at 23:59.
The quality of entries already received across all categories are some of the highest to date and shortlisted candidates will be posted online this month ahead of the awards ceremony in October — the hottest event on the industry’s calendar.
Now in its seventh year, the Hotelier Middle East Awards seeks to recognise the true heroes of the region’s hospitality industry and celebrate the achievements of hoteliers working both back- and front-of-house in a variety of areas.
Last year, the standard of nominations resulted in a stellar shortlist and highly deserving winners and highly commended nominees.
Winners included Media One Dubai GM Cora de Conceicao-Stuart as General Manager of the Year, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr’s executive chef John Cordeaux as Chef of the Year, Mounir Melliti from InterContinental Riyadh, who was named Fitness and Recreation Person of the Year, and the impressive team at Southern Sun Al Manzil Hotel Dubai, which won the inaugural Team of the Year Award.
As a result, the bar has been raised for the 2011 Awards and Hotelier Middle East with a wide range of entries from hotels of all categories from across the region.
“I urge you to look within your teams and nominate the colleagues that have consistently performed above expectations and significantly contributed to the success of your business,” said ITP business hospitality group editor Louise Oakley.
“It’s time to seek out those success stories and, considering the unrest experienced across the region in 2011 and the resourcefulness of hoteliers in dealing with this — from evacuating staff to safety, to encouraging guests to come back to the Middle East and North Africa — I am in absolutely no doubt that this year’s nominations will be some of the most interesting and impressive yet.”
The Hotelier Middle East Awards will be held at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on October 19, 2011.
