Picking up the prestigious award for Events Caterer of the Year was Chef Harald Oberender of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
The brand new award — sponsored by Horeca Trade — was introduced this year to acknowledge the ever-growing importance of events and the people that make them possible.
A true leader in his field, Chef Harald is renowned in the industry for the sheer scale of his operation at DWTC. He impressed the judges with his ability to continually innovate and to develop his team as well as successfully delivering a spectacular number of events, which rank among the most prestigious in Dubai.

But on receiving his award Chef Harald put his amazing achievements down to the team behind him - who gave him one of the biggest cheers of the night when he picked up his trophy.
"I have to say that that it wouldn’t be possible with out the team. The team is behind me, the team makes it happen, as well as our senior vice president. For such big events you can't do it alone - you need someone behind you. I hope this award will give something back to the team."
Chef Harald said he was "stunned and very happy" to win the award.
He said his ambition for the future was to "continue to grow, to develop the young talent and at the same time to make sure people feel there is something new and its worthwhile to come back."
Highly-commended nominees were Mohammed Waseemuddin, banquet manager at the Mövenpick Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, and Natalie Kurz, cluster director of conference and events, Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, Dubai.
