Scott Price, executive chef, Verre by Gordon Ramsay, situated in Hilton Dubai Creek was cronwed Chef of the Year — Hotel Restaurant, sponsored by Royal Culimer, at the Caterer Middle East Awards 2011 last night.

Commenting on his spectacular win, Price said: “I feel elated. It’s great. It's always good to be a part of the Caterer awards… its great just to be part of it."

"We try really hard in what we do and we have a great team here. We've been able to implement some great things as well like the sustainable fish thing, and for me that was a big thing – I don’t do it for the PR or the show – it is because it matters," he added.

Price was awarded the top spot as he impressed judges with his inspirational work ethic and drive to help Verre reach its full potential.

The two highly-commended nominees in this category were Oliver Biles, chef at Reflets par Pierre Gagnaire, InterContinental Dubai Festival City, and Anston Fivaz, executive chef at Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel and West 14th Steak House.
