A passenger who threatened an Emirates Airline crew midflight after drinking three bottles of wine has been sentenced to three months in jail suspended for three years, and fined AED 1000.

The 35-year-old Frenchman admitted charges of issuing threats and consuming alcohol on board flight EK 47 from Dubai to Paris at Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance last week, The National reported.

The incident occurred on June 14 when he threatened an Australian crew member and a French flight attendant.

Two hours after the flight left Dubai, the man was intoxicated and was ordering the flight attendant to bring more wine, the Australian crew member testified.

“I ordered the attendant to stop providing him with liquour,” said the crew member, who added that he approached the passenger and told him he would not be given any more alcohol, according to the newspaper report.

The passenger then threatened him saying: “I will sabotage the flight, and it’s reputation and I will make a big problem,” the court was told.
