Adopted in 2010 by the Tunisian chamber of deputies, the tourist complex project is located between the cities of Nefta and Tozeur.

The complex, which is targeted primarily at Arab tourists from the nearby Gulf Arab states, as well as foreign tourists, would create a large number of jobs, notably in the engineering, construction and tourism sectors, he added.

The project is situated close to a number of natural tourist attractions, including the Atlas Mountains, the mountain springs of Chebika and the Chott El Jerid salt pan.

Also nearby are the filming locations of the original Star War trilogy, a popular destination for fans of the movies.

Qatar Diar currently has more than 35 projects spread across 20 countries globally.
