Millennium and Copthorne Middle East has opened its first Millennium Plaza branded hotel in the region on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

The 65-storey Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai offers 413 guest rooms, four F&B outlets and five meeting rooms, with five additional rooms expected to be added in Q2 2012.

The hotel is targeting all market segments, general manager Muin Serhan told Hotelier Middle East.

“Sheikh Zayed Road is traditionally a very business-oriented area; and that’s naturally going to be an important market for us, being so close to DIFC, the Dubai World Trade Centre and many other corporate entities,” said Serhan.

“But we've included lots of added value for families, leisure travellers – even those who want a little extra from their business trip,” he continued.

“Firstly, we’ve put a strong emphasis on kids’ F&B and activities, because they are of course a key factor in attracting family business. Plus the size of our rooms allows for two children to be in one single room with their parents — and many of our double rooms are connecting.

“Secondly, we've contacted all malls in Dubai, and arranged to have shuttle buses to and from each of them daily,” added Serhan.

“Others may prefer beach activities, so we offer scheduled trips three times a day, to drop guests at Jumeirah Beach area. Our travel partners around the world have agreed this is a great selling point, and will help us compete with the purely leisure facilities here in Dubai,’ he asserted.

Another strong selling point is the hotel’s location opposite the Emirates Towers metro station, Serhan added.

He said that that the hotel’s soft-opening rates were “exceptionally competitive”.

“Rates begin from AED 550. If you look at the market average along Sheikh Zayed Road, at this time of year, you’re not really finding anything for less than AED 700 a night, so our start-up price is excellent,” said Serhan.
