British national Mark Griffiths has joined the Jumeirah group as general manager of its Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa in Kuwait, which is due to open in 2012, while Marco Metge has taken the role as acting general manager of Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto in Rome.
Griffiths previously worked at Majid Al Futtaim properties in Dubai, where he was vice president of asset management hospitality.
He began his career in Hampshire, England at Tylney Hall Hotel before joining Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel, London in 1990. He stayed with the company for 14 years in the UK, Thailand and Indonesia, before moving to Singapore’s Sentosa Resort & Spa as general manager.
Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto in Rome, where the group took over management this month, welcomed Metge, from Germany.
He joined the group in 2004 as front office and revenue manager for Jumeirah Beach Club Resort & Spa, and has since moved through various managerial positions in Dubai and London. In 2010, he was been appointed as pre-opening director of operations in Jumeirah Frankfurt, Germany.
