Starwood’s Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi has hired Shaun Parsons at its new general manager.
The young Australian hotelier already has two decades' hospitality experience at 39, having gained a degree in the business of catering and hotel management from Victoria University of Technology, before spending 15 years with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Asia Pacific.
In 2006 he joined Starwood on its executive team at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina as executive assistant manager of food and beverage and was on the opening team of The Westin Dubai in 2008. In his new role he will be overseeing the revamp of the five-star hotel’s main tower, as well as its F&B outlets.
Parsons said: “I am excited to be at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi. The hotel is one of Starwood’s flagships and has such wonderful potential. With the new hospitality developments that the capital has been witnessing over the past few years, we believe it’s normal to plan some little renovation and big openings in order to hold our leading position in the market.”
