The new Hilton Conrad Dubai scheduled to open on Sheikh Zayed Road in quarter four will bring six new restaurant concepts to the region in a bid to compete for diners with nearby popular rival restaurants in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The 559-room hotel, located opposite DIFC, will feature four homegrown restaurants and two branded restaurants, including the famous Latin-American supper club Izel, Hotelier Middle East can reveal.

“DIFC has made a huge impact on the hotel restaurant business because the public are looking for standalone restaurants, they’re not looking to go into hotels and DIFC has provided that environment for people to have that kind of experience like you would get in any other leading city in the world,” Andrew Joyce, director of food & beverage, Hilton Worldwide, Middle East & Africa told Hotelier Middle East.

“So the impact of DIFC has been significant, the type of quality, cuisines and standards we are seeing as a benchmark and we’ve had to look at that and learn from that. So what we’re bringing onto the market in our new properties will be something we can hopefully compete with, do better with and grow on,” he added.

Simon Lazarus, senior area director of food & beverage, Hilton Worldwide, Middle East & Africa added: “We’re going head-to-head with the DIFC restaurants. We’re opening Conrad in Dubai later this year and we think the total offering there will compete with DIFC restaurants. It really depends on the offering. Yes, some people can debate a freestanding restaurant is a good thing, however, if the product is good people will come”.
